SEO basics for small businesses — what actually moves the needle

You do not need a huge budget to rank. Get the fundamentals right and you will out-perform most competitors in your city.

Small businesses often think SEO is a mysterious dark art. It is not. Ninety percent of the wins come from a short list of fundamentals.

The fundamentals

  1. One clear topic per page. One page per service, one page per location, one page per product category.
  2. Real titles and meta descriptions. Not "Home" and "Welcome to our site".
  3. Content people actually search for. Use the words your customers use, not your internal jargon.
  4. A single H1 per page, with logical H2s below it.
  5. Alt text on every image. It helps search engines and accessibility tools.
  6. A sitemap and clean URLs. /services/webshop, not ?p=42.
  7. Google Business Profile if you are local. Free, huge impact.
  8. Reviews. Ask happy customers. They almost always say yes.

What not to waste money on

Bought backlinks, keyword stuffing, endless "SEO audits" that never turn into changes. If someone promises page-one Google in a week, walk away.

All websites I build ship SEO-ready — see the services — and I can also audit an existing site if you already have one. Feel free to get in touch to start.
